Danish languageAre you interested in learning the Danish language? Are you interested in Danish culture? At Silkeborg Folk High School we welcome students from other countries, who would like to study at a typical Danish "højskole".
Our courses last 4, 6 or 8 months. Besides studying in our special Danish language class, you have the opportunity of choosing from about 40 different subjects, who may bring you new knowledge, train new skills and challenge your attitudes. We put emphasis on subjects like Nature and Out-door life, Music, Politics, European studies, Third-world studies, Philosophy, Religion, Literature, Pedagogics, Psychology, Natural Science, Sports, Art etc.
A Danish folk high school is an adult boarding school and as such Silkeborg Folk High School is an opportunity and a challenge. It is a place where you strongly involve yourself in social fellowship and encounter committed professional teaching. Every single teacher is enthusiastic about his or her subjects and interests, and together teachers and students are eager to give you the experience of the folk high school as a place, where you have free scope for your abilities.
At Silkeborg Folk High School we consider international participation to be an important issue and by means of both teaching and social activities we try to encourage dialogue and understanding between our Danish students and students coming from different geographical and cultural backgrounds. It is an advantage, if you know some Danish before the beginning of a course, because most classes and general information will be in Danish. During the course, however, you will get the opportunity to improve your Danish in our Danish language class ("Dansk for fremmedsprogede").
